On November 24, the Colombian Civil Aeronautical Authority (Aerocivil) will open a new Public Hearing, in which Wingo will formally request two new destinations for its network in the Caribbean and Central America.
The low cost carrier requested third, fourth and fifth freedom of the air rights to operate to Port-au-Prince (PAP), Haiti, and Managua (MGA), Nicaragua, to transport passengers, cargo and mail.
Wingo seeks to operate to both destinations from Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla or Armenia with a stopover in Panama, with the possibility of eliminating the stopover at Tocumen International Airport.
Again, Wingo is requesting a triangular operation: currently Buenos Aires is the only authorized destination with the same scheme. This service to Ezeiza is used by Copa Airlines as a fourth daily flight, operating Medellin – Panama by Wingo and Panama – Buenos Aires by Copa Airlines.
The fifth freedom of the air allows the transfer of cargo and passengers between two countries by an airline of a third country on a route to/from or to its country of residence.
Managua is currently operated by Copa Airlines with 11 weekly flights from Panama and has not yet resumed operations to Haiti.

Wingo remains the low cost with the largest international offer in Colombia, with flights from Barranquilla (BAQ), Bogota (BOG), Cali (CLO), Cartagena (CTG) and Medellin (MDE), to: Oranjestad (AUA), Aruba; San Jose (SJO), Costa Rica; Havana (HAV), Cuba; Willemstad (CUR), Curacao; Quito (UIO) and Guayaquil (GYE), Ecuador; Cancun (CUN) and Mexico City (MEX), Mexico; Lima (LIM), Peru; Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ), Dominican Republic; Panama City (Tocumen/Balboa).
The company is awaiting authorization from the competent aeronautical authorities to resume flights to Venezuela.
According to information obtained by Aviacionline through Aerocivil, the company transported 846,025 passengers in the international market, being the second most important Colombian airline.
