Panama: Air Transat began scheduled flights to Rio Hato

On November 1 Air Transat resumed non-stop service between Montreal (YUL) and Rio Hato, Panama (RIH), the last charter operation of the company on this route was on April 22 of this year. The leisure airline will offer four destinations in Central America from Canada this winter season.

Flight TS 216, operated in an Airbus A321 registered with the registration number C-GOIJ, took off with 152 passengers from Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 10:30 local time and landed at Scarlett Martinez International Airport (RIH) at 15:03, after five hours and 30 minutes.

In addition, travelers from other Canadian cities can connect to Rio Hato (RIH) through the company’s main hub in Montreal (YUL) and its focus city in Toronto (YYZ). Recently, Panama’s Civil Aeronautics Authority issued Air Transat’s final operating certificate to operate regularly at Scarlett Martinez International Airport (RIH).

  • Flight TS 218 YUL 07:15 – RIH 13:15 Friday.
  • Flight TS 216 YUL 09:15 – RIH 15:15 Tuesday.

  • Flight TS 217 RIH 16:30 – YUL 22:10 Tuesday.
  • Flight TS 219 RIH 14:30 – YUL 20:10 Friday.

From December the service changes to operate on Mondays and Fridays.

Toronto (YYZ) – Rio Hato (YYZ)

Starting December 9 with two flights per week,

  • Flight TS 346 YYZ 08:10 – RIH 14:00 Monday and Thursday.
  • Flight TS 347 RIH 15:20 – YYZ 20:55 Monday and Thursday.

All of the company’s routes in Panama are operated in Airbus A321LR aircraft with a capacity of 199 seats in two classes (12 Club Class/187 Economy).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Air Transat will offer 1,592 weekly seats between Rio Hato and Canada. The company will be the main international air operator at Scarlett Martinez Airport.

In Central America, the leisure carrier will also offer non-stop service to San Salvador (SAL), San José de Costa Rica (SJO) and Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR) from its main hub in Montreal (YUL) and its focus city in Toronto (YYZ).
