Japan’s Skymark Airlines announced Thursday (10) plans to add up to 12 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as part of its fleet modernization process.
Four of the 737s will be ordered directly from Boeing, including 737-8 and 737-10 variants, with an option for two more aircraft, while another six 737-8s will come from a lessor.
«As Skymark Airlines looks to sustainably grow its fleet, the 737 MAX family offers market-leading efficiency and environmental performance,» said Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing. «With commonality and enhanced capabilities, the 737-8 and 737-10 will enable Skymark Airlines to optimize its fleet across all operations.»
Skymark currently has a fleet of 29 Boeing 737-800s (10 years average age) covering a network of six destinations in Japan.
According to information obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, it offers an average of 185,000 seats per week and 1,050 flights.
