Air Europa resumed its flights to Salvador de Bahia

This Wednesday (21) Air Europa resumed its flights between Madrid (MAD) and Salvador de Bahia (SSA), its second destination in Brazil. The airline’s last operation on this route was on March 28, 2020, when it was suspended due to the COVID pandemic.

Recently Globalia’s airline began a codeshare agreement with Azul Linhas Aéreas where passengers will be able to connect to São Paulo-Congonhas (CGH), Belo Horizonte (CNF), Campinas-Viracopos (VCP), Porto Seguro (BPS) and Recife (REC) via Salvador da Bahia (SSA).

Flight UX 83 was operated in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which took off from Adolfo Suarez International Airport (MAD) at 15:49 local time and landed at Salvador International Airport (SSA) at 19:51, after eight hours and three minutes.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas, 78,331 passengers and 2,383.5 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2019 between Madrid (MAD) and Salvador de Bahia (SSA) in 313 flights. This route was the third largest between Spain and Brazil, where Air Europa was the only operator.

Flight Itinerary

  • Madrid – Salvador de Bahia Flight UX 83 MAD 15:25 – SSA 20:30 Wednesday and Friday.
  • Salvador de Bahia – Madrid Flight UX 84 SSA 22:55 – MAD 11:25+1 Wednesday and Friday.

The route will be operated in Boeing 787-9 and 787-8 aircraft with a capacity of 344 and 291 passengers, respectively. The airline will offer 1,270 seats per week on this segment.

In addition to its operations to Salvador de Bahia, Air Europa offers daily flights between the Spanish capital and São Paulo – Guarulhos (GRU) in Boeing 787-9 aircraft offering the company’s new Business Class cabins. Globalia’s airline maintains suspended its flights to Recife (REC) and Fortaleza (FOR).

In December, Salvador International Airport (SSA) will have an international offer that includes Buenos Aires – Aeroparque (AEP) operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and GOL; Lisbon (LIS) operated by TAP Air Portugal; Madrid (MAD) operated by Air Europa and by January 7, 2023 it will have a new service to Montevideo (MVD) by GOL.
