Norwegian Air Shuttle carried 1.374.828 passengers during November, the company reported in a press release. The figure represents an increase of 37% compared to the same month in 2021. The average occupancy factor reached 79.5%.

In October, Norwegian had carried 1.885.606 passengers, 57% more than during the same month last year.

The airline had an average of 64 aircraft in operation and completed 99.7% of scheduled flights during the penultimate month of 2022. In addition, 90.3% of its services were completed on time.

“We are pleased with this month’s traffic data and the revenue that goes with it, and happy to see that a total of 1.4 million passengers chose to travel with us”, commented Geir Karlsen, the company’s CEO. “Although we are now in the low season, demand for flights remains persistent, particularly to our range of popular beach destinations”, he added.

In that regard, Karlsen noted that average occupancy on flights between Norway and destinations in southern Europe hovered around 90% in November. “I am particularly pleased with this month’s punctuality, which has proven to be the best so far this year and is the result of the hard work of our colleagues who are doing their best to serve our customers every day”, he said.

Strong demand and good prospects for 2023

In recent months, Norwegian consolidated its recovery on the back of “continued strong demand” for travel. “We are well positioned to respond to seasonal variations”, Karlsen said.

Regarding Norwegian’s outlook for the near future, he stated: “We have adjusted our capacity to meet lower demand during the winter season and have covered a total of 15% of our estimated fuel consumption by 2023”. Besides, he noted that they see “pent-up demand for flights, especially to sunny destinations”.
