WestJet is strengthening transatlantic connectivity of the province of Alberta with increased operations from Calgary (YYC) to France, Italy and Ireland. The Canadian airline will offer 7 non-stop services between YYC and Europe for the summer season 2023, the carrier’s largest offering to the Europe from Western Canada.
“WestJet making Calgary its only 787 global hub and these additional route offerings demonstrates its confidence in the economic future of both Calgary and Alberta. And it reinforces the advantage of YYC Calgary International Airport’s strategic position as a global hub,” said Bob Sartor, president and CEO of Calgary Airport Authority.
WestJet has scheduled up to 40 weekly operations between Calgary and Europe, offering convenient connections to more than 24 communities in Canada. In addition, the Alberta-based airline will increase capacity on its routes to Dublin (DUB), Paris (CDG) and Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) by 95 percent.
All services to Europe will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft seating 320 passengers in three classes (16 Business Class/28 Premium Economy/276 Economy).
By the summer season 2023, WestJet will be the largest long-haul carrier in Calgary (YYC) where it will offer service to eight intercontinental destinations in Europe and Asia, fulfilling the goal of strengthening the province of Alberta’s global connectivity.
