Copa Holdings, the management company of Copa Airlines and Wingo, released its preliminary passenger traffic statistics for December 2022.
Key passenger traffic statistics for December 2022
- Consolidated capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASM) increased by 7.7% from that recorded in December 2019, the last year prior to the start of the pandemic.
- Passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles (RPM) grew by 6.1% compared to the last month of 2019.
- Occupancy rate reached 84.1% during the month, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points compared to December 2019.
Copa Holdings thus consolidated its year-end recovery. In August, and for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the company had surpassed the traffic levels reported in the same period of 2019.
The process of recovery of the company’s activity was not exempt from seasonal ups and downs, and also suffered the successive impact of the different stages of the health crisis, like the rest of the players in the airline industry. However, the situation began to stabilise from the second quarter of 2022.
