Emirates continues to strengthen its capacity in Australia as travel demand continues to increase: the airline will increase its routes to Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL), as well as restart services to Christchurch (CHC).
«Adding a third daily service to Sydney and Melbourne will offer more than 500,000 additional seats to and from Australia in one year. Having the two cities operating again at pre-pandemic frequencies is a phenomenal milestone in our restoration of Australia capacity and a testament to our long-standing commitment to flying down under,» said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Airline’s Chief Commercial Officer.
The Gulf’s largest airline, by the first half of this year will operate 63 weekly flights to Australia with the capacity to move more than 55,000 passengers to and from major cities. Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL) will return to pre-pandemic levels, driving an increase in business and leisure travelers. Recently, Emirates announced increased operations to Brisbane (BNE) with two daily flights.
«This is great news for customers as it provides additional capacity for the strong demand we are seeing for travel from Melbourne to Europe and Asia. It’s also great news for Victorian exporters as the Boeing 777-300 aircraft provides additional cargo opportunities to Asia and the Middle East,» said Lorie Argus, Melbourne Airport’s chief executive officer.
