Air India resumes flights between Delhi and Milan

After almost three years, Air India resumed operations in Italy on February 1 with the reactivation of the Delhi (DEL) – Milan (MXP) route. With the start of the airline’s services, Malpensa Airport (MXP) is once again connected with non-stop flights to India.

Flight AI 137 was operated in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner registered with the registration number VT-ANO, took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) at 14:58 local time and landed at Malpensa Airport (MXP) at 18:30, after eight hours and 30 minutes.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Air India will offer 2,048 weekly seats between Delhi (DEL) and Milan (MXP). For now, the company keeps its operations to Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) suspended.

“The company is among the fastest growing airlines and its decision to prioritize the reintroduction of Milan – Malpensa further confirms the strong industry interest in the potential of our catchment area and Northern Italy as a destination,” said Andrea Tucci, Vice President Aviation Business Development, Sea Milan Airports.

“The return of Air India’s direct flight to Delhi on the Malpensa network contributes to improving connectivity to and from the Asian market, which has been the most affected by the isolation caused by the pandemic crisis,” Tucci added.
