Canary Islands-based airline Binter has finalised the signing of a financing agreement for the five new Embraer E195-E2 it had ordered by the end of 2022. According to the company, the deal will be finalised together with a banking consortium comprising BBVA, Caixabank and Santander.
Both the operator and the Brazilian manufacturer confirmed in early December an order for five aircraft, for a total of 389.4 million dollars at list price. Deliveries would take place during 2023 and 2024.
In November 2019, the Spanish carrier became the launch customer in Europe for the largest variant of the second-generation E-Jets. It currently has five Embraer E195-E2 in its fleet, all of which have an interior configuration of 132 seats in a single class. The new aircraft will have the same interior layout.
The company’s top authorities signed the agreement in Gran Canaria. «We continue our commitment to increase our fleet with efficient aircraft with the necessary characteristics to continue providing the best service to our customers,» said Rodolfo Núñez, president of Binter.
«This type of aircraft allows us to improve connectivity between the Canary Islands and national and international destinations, and to do so with Binter’s own quality and comfort», he added. «It is a further commitment to providing the people of the Canary Islands with the transport service they deserve», he assured.
«The strength of Binter’s balance sheet and the confidence of the signatory banks have allowed us to undertake this important operation», said Alfredo Morales, vice-president of the airline.
