German international logistics company DHL Express will expand its aircraft fleet with the addition of nine Boeing 777-200LR converted by Mammoth Freighters, a company founded in 2020 to design and support the development of passenger aircraft conversions.

The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in 2024 and the remaining ones in early 2027. This will enable DHL Express to modernise and optimise its long-haul fleet, reducing costs and its environmental impact.

The 777-200LR is presented as an efficient transition alternative between the currently available models and the new aircraft that will operate in the near future, such as the Boeing 777-8F or the Airbus A350F.

“We are pleased to welcome the Boeing 777-200LR converted by Mammoth to the DHL Express family”, said Robert Hyslop, EVP of Global Aviation. “By modernising our intercontinental fleet, we will be able to better respond to the growing demand for global express capacity, improve our environmental footprint and offer the best quality of service to our customers”, he added.

The Boeing 777-200LRs converted by Mammoth Freighters will offer DHL Express features similar to those of production freighter aircraft. They will have a payload capacity of 102 tonnes and a range of up to 9.200 kilometres, depending on operating conditions.

Between 2018 and 2022, the company purchased 28 new 777-200Fs from Boeing. Eighteen of them are already in service, while the remaining units will be delivered between 2023 and 2025.
