Austrian Airlines Expands Winter Schedule: New Routes to Finland and Spain

Following the successful launch of seven new routes during the summer, Austrian Airlines now extends its winter schedule to popular tourist destinations in Finland and Spain. The airline, thus, provides an extensive network of 86 destinations for the winter season, which includes 70 mainland and 16 intercontinental.

Michael Trestl, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlights the airline’s past positive developments, which now enables it to offer a broader spectrum of travel options for its customers. «We have successfully positioned ourselves as the premier airline in Austria and at the Vienna hub with our market expansion«, states Trestl.

In anticipation of the 2023 holiday season, the Vienna-based carrier will introduce a novel route to Rovaniemi, Finland – renowned as the official home of Santa Claus. Additionally, the airline is augmenting its network of snow destinations with a new charter service to Kittilä, which is conveniently located near Finland’s largest winter sports resort, «Levi».

In Spain, Austrian will inaugurate a new route between Vienna and Seville starting October 14, with bi-weekly flights. Additionally, it will enhance its operations to the Canary Islands by adding more charter flights to Fuerteventura, Tenerife, and Las Palmas.

New routes initiated during the 2023 summer season, like Porto, Marseille, and Vilnius, will continue to be available in the winter schedule. «Our winter schedule extension aims to provide our customers the opportunity to explore new places and create unforgettable travel experiences. Austrian Airlines will boost its operations in mainland China by increasing its flights to Shanghai – Pudong from three to four flights per week. The frequency to New York/Newark, Marrakech, and Cairo will also be enhanced.

Popular winter season destinations like Bangkok, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Cancun also form part of the airline’s intercontinental offering.
