Etihad Airways is set to broaden its Japanese market presence with a new non-stop service from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Osaka (KIX). As the second Gulf airline to land at Kansai International Airport (KIX), Etihad will provide 4,060 seats weekly on this new route.
«Osaka’s status as one of the globe’s most cosmopolitan cities makes it an attractive destination for our new route. We are confident that travelers will relish the opportunity to delve into Osaka’s rich heritage and sample its acclaimed hospitality,» stated Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.
This freshly minted Osaka service will supplement Etihad’s existing daily service between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tokyo – Narita (NRT) operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Consequently, this augments Etihad’s Japanese network to two destinations. For now, Etihad has yet to announce plans to reinstate the Nagoya (NGO) route, which previously had a layover in Beijing.
«Simultaneously, this new connection will expose Abu Dhabi to visitors from Osaka, allowing us to extend our hospitality and introduce them to our expansive global network,» Neves further commented.
Etihad’s Osaka Flight Schedule
Commencing October 1, 2023.
- Abu Dhabi – Osaka/Kansai Flight EY 830 AUH 21:40 – KIX 11:55 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- Osaka/Kansai – Abu Dhabi Flight EY 831 KIX 17:25 – AUH 22:55 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The Osaka route will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering 290 seats in two classes (28 Business Class/262 Economy), with promotional fares starting from USD 900 each way. Furthermore, Etihad’s codeshare agreement with All Nippon Airways allows customers access to numerous Japanese destinations.
As the third largest city in Japan, Osaka’s connection with Etihad’s network will fortify trade and tourism relations between the two nations. This move comes in the wake of Japanese authorities lifting all travel restrictions, enabling airlines to ramp up and restore their operations.
The newly added service to Kansai International Airport (KIX) joins the recently introduced year-round service to Copenhagen (CPH) and the seasonal route to Lisbon (LIS), along with the resumed operations to Düsseldorf (DUS). Etihad persists in expanding its global network and enhancing connectivity via its hub in Abu Dhabi (AUH).
