United began nonstop service between California and Italy

United San Francisco Roma

On May 25, United Airlines began its fourth route to Rome with non-stop service from San Francisco. With this new operation, Fiumicino Airport is now connected to two destinations in California and «The Bay Area» is once again served by flights to Italy after four years.

Present at the event to celebrate this new service were: Federico Scriboni, Head of Aviation Business Development of Aeroporti di Roma; Walter Cianciusi, Country Sales Manager of United Airlines in Italy; Michael Mitolo, General Manager of United Airlines; airport employees and local press.

Flight UA 507 was operated by a Boeing 777 registered as N787UA, which departed San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 17:19 local time and arrived at Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (FCO) at 13:25 the following day, after eleven hours and five minutes.

United will offer 3,864 seats per week on this new route and is the airline’s only nonstop connection between the West Coast of the United States and Italy. Currently, the U.S. carrier connects to the Italian capital with nonstop flights from Newark, Washington, Chicago and now San Francisco.

«We are delighted to inaugurate United Airlines’ direct flight to San Francisco. With a demand of more than 230,000 passengers in 2019, the Bay Area represents the leading market to date not directly connected to Rome. Thanks to this innovation, United will now operate 4 destinations, adding a record level of supply at Fiumicino Airport«, stated Federico Scriboni, Head of Aviation Business Development at Aeroporti di Roma.
