PARIS – Republic Airways, a leading U.S. regional airline, has become a part of Embraer’s Energia Advisory Group, a collective of airlines, lessors, suppliers, and other aviation professionals assisting the Energia project. The Energia project, as Embraer details, is a significant initiative in the aviation industry focused on creating sustainable, emission-free, and commercially viable aircraft for the future.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Republic Airways and Embraer during the Paris Air Show serves as a commitment to co-operate in defining real-world requirements for the next generation of sustainable aviation. Working in collaboration with other members of the Energia Advisory Group, these firms will determine necessary factors such as infrastructure, ground handling, aircraft performance (including range and speed), and cargo space requirements. Embraer emphasizes that the group will play a crucial role in accelerating the time to market and ultimately deciding which Energia aircraft variant will debut first.
«Republic, one of Embraer’s largest customers and one of the main regional carriers in the US, is an important addition to the diverse team of experts advising Embraer on this essential area of innovation. Republic’s expertise will be invaluable in progressing this exciting program forward – welcome to the team!”, said Arjan Meijer, President & CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
The Energia project by Embraer explores a myriad of sustainable concepts for transporting up to 50 passengers. A variety of energy sources, propulsion systems, and airframe architectures are under consideration, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 50% starting from 2030. This is a significant step towards Embraer’s ultimate goal of achieving net carbon neutrality by 2050.
