KLM has revamped the cabins of its Boeing 777 fleet with new World Business Class seats. These wider seats have a sliding door that provides greater comfort and privacy.
Due to innovations, the seats and equipment are 10-15% lighter than other Business Class seats in this market segment, contributing to KLM’s sustainability goals.
KLM’s new World Business Class (WBC) seat has been developed based on extensive customer research and provides passengers with more space and comfort:
- All World Business Class seats have direct aisle access and a lightweight sliding door that offers greater privacy.
- The seat provides a more personalized fit and user-friendly features, including adjustable lumbar support and a back massage function.
- The seat can fully recline 180° to create a bed with a length of almost two meters. In addition, there are multiple easily accessible and visible charging sockets, as well as a wireless charging option for passengers.
- Customers can store their belongings in a lockable compartment that also has an integrated mirror. Bottle holders are integrated into the seat so passengers can safely leave water bottles on the dashboard, even in turbulence.
KLM for its new World Business Class opted to install Jamco Venture’s product in a 1-2-1 configuration, this seat was previously installed in the airline’s 787 fleet. After extensive customer research, KLM partnered with the manufacturer to further optimize the seat.
KLM is scheduled to equip its entire Boeing 777-300ER and 777-200ER fleet with the new World Business Class seats and Premium Comfort cabin. The complete refurbishment is expected to be completed within the next year.
