Iberia has opened the third edition of its cadet program in collaboration with Flight Training Europe (FTE) Jerez. This program aims to train and select the most qualified pilots, also offering financing for 50% of the cost of training at FTE Jerez. According to the company, this initiative will allow Iberia to have highly qualified professionals and promote the profession of a pilot among young people.
Those interested in training as pilots have until July 21 to submit their application through the program’s website. Once selected, the 16 cadets will begin their training in the last quarter of 2023.
«We are very excited about the launch of this third promotion of Iberia cadets, a sign that the program is giving good results for both candidates and the company, and above all, that we are in a time of high demand for these professionals in the air sector. In this context, Iberia’s ambition is to always have the most qualified pilots with the best skills, and the cadet program allows us to finance the career of candidates and monitor their training, according to the future needs of the company«, expressed Rafael Jiménez-Hoyos, Director of Production at Iberia.
From previous editions of the program, Iberia has incorporated 19 pilots into its staff. Additionally, during this year, Iberia has already hired more than 100 new pilots to cover the company’s growth in all its markets.
The Iberia-FTE Jerez cadet program offers young people with a vocation for the pilot profession the opportunity to finance their training under very favorable conditions. Once the program is completed, Iberia will facilitate, as far as the required conditions are met, the incorporation of these cadets into the labor market through the airlines of the Iberia Group.
In addition, the airline has opened a new call for technical crew members with Airbus type certification (A320, A330, A340, A350 or A380) and experience of 150 flight hours. This call will be open until July 31, 2023 (those interested can sign up at this link).
Óscar Sordo, CEO of FTEJerez, highlighted the success of the program and the trust that Iberia has placed in them to train their next generation of pilots. «Without a doubt, this new call is not only a recognition of the success of the Iberia Cadets program that we launched for the first time in 2017, but it confirms the recovery of the sector after the pandemic and the bright future of the industry«, Sordo commented.
This program represents an opportunity for young people interested in aviation, with the security of high-quality training backed by one of the most recognized airlines in the sector. Through joint collaboration between Iberia and FTEJerez, the selected candidates will be able to obtain the ATPL air transport license, financed at 50% and interest-free by Iberia.
