Turkish Airlines Operates Flights to Panama with its Airbus A350 for a Capacity Boost

On July 11, Turkish Airlines increased the seating capacity of its non-stop flights between Istanbul and Panama with the introduction of the Airbus A350 – 900, this aircraft will replace the Boeing 787 operation. This represents an increase of almost 10% in seat capacity in this segment.

The first A350 service was flight TK 903, the aircraft is registered as TC – LGG and is 1.1 years old. The aircraft took off from Istanbul Airport (IST) 14:04 local time and landed at Tocumen International Airport (PTY) at 18:51, after 12 hours and 47 minutes.

The airline’s A350s have a capacity of 329 seats in two classes (32 Business Class/297 Economy). In addition, for the remainder of the summer season, Turkish will be the only airline to offer services with the Airbus A350-900s.

More flights to Panama for the winter

For the beginning of this northern winter, Turkish will increase its non-stop services between Istanbul and Tocumen Airport from three to five flights per week, offering two extra frequencies compared to the previous season. In total, the airline will have a schedule of 12 flights per week between Turkey and Panama.

Turkish’s non-stop flight schedule to Panama

From October 30, 2023 to March 30, 2024.

  • Istanbul – Panama Flight TK 903 IST 14:30 – PTY 20:15 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Panama – Istanbul Flight TK 904 PTY 21:45 – IST 18:25+1 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

This service will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 300 seats in two classes (30 Business Class/270 Economy) and promotional fares are available from 1,517 USD round trip.

The company will continue to operate the triangulated route between Panama and Bogota with daily flights using a Boeing 777-300ER with 349 seats in two classes. The codeshare partnership with Copa Airlines is vital for the Turkish airline, allowing its customers to have the option of connecting to more destinations in the Caribbean, Central and South America through the «Hub of the Americas».

According to information compiled by Aviacionline through Tocumen Airport statistics, Turkish Airlines has mobilized 121,525 passengers in 2022 to and from Panama. The company became the leading European airline operator to the Central American country in terms of seats per kilometers offered (ASK).

Turkish Airlines’ network of Latin American and Caribbean destinations includes services to Sao Paulo – Guarulhos, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Panama – Tocumen, Caracas, Havana, Mexico City and Cancun.
