Turkish Cargo becomes third largest air cargo operator in the world

Turkish Cargo, the air cargo division of Turkish Airlines, rose to the third spot among the world’s top air cargo carriers in May, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The news was announced on Monday, marking a significant achievement for the carrier amidst the increasingly competitive global air freight industry.

The Turkish cargo operator has witnessed an increase in its cargo tonnage, showing a month-on-month growth of 17%. The data, measured in freight ton-kilometers (FTKs), is a significant indicator of the performance and efficiency of Turkish Cargo, which boosted its market share to 5.4% as of April.

Turkish Airlines‘ Chairman, Ahmet Bolat, expressed his satisfaction at this accomplishment: «We, as Turkish Cargo, continue to reinforce our leading position in the industry in line with our target to grow and improve continuously,» he said. Bolat’s statement strongly echoed the company’s commitment to future targets and its relentless effort to add further value to the air cargo industry.

With a fleet of 422 aircraft, including 24 dedicated freighters, Turkish Cargo offers unparalleled services to over 340 destinations worldwide. This includes an impressive 104 direct cargo destinations, ensuring their global reach extends to 132 countries.
