Virgin Australia and All Nippon Airways Expand Codeshare Partnership

Virgin Australia and Ana Nippon Airways (ANA) have announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership, plus increased benefits for frequent flyer programs and more travel options across both airlines’ networks.

For the first time, customers will also be able to book tickets on ANA flights between Australia and Japan through Virgin Australia’s website.

The two airlines further enhance their partnership following the launch of Virgin Australia’s new non-stop service between Cairns and Tokyo/Haneda in June. The cooperation with ANA will provide customers with convenient connections to more than 12 domestic destinations in Japan including Sapporo, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka – Itami, Kochi, Osaka – Kansai, Kumamoto, Nagoya, Nagasaki, Oita, Okinawa and Miyazaki.

To commemorate the expanded partnership between Virgin Australia and ANA, Velocity members will receive 20% bonus points on flights operated by ANA between Sydney and Tokyo/Haneda, if the Velocity member activates this promotion before August 1, 2023 and reverse between July 18 and December 31, 2023.

Through the alliance between the two airlines, Silver, Gold and Platinum members flying on an ANA-operated service with a Virgin Australia flight number will receive bonus points for miles flown, as well as base points earned. Silver members will earn 50% bonus points, Gold members 75% and Platinum members 100%, in addition to the base points earned.

All Nippon Airways:

  • Tokyo/Haneda – Sydney: two daily flights operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
  • Tokyo/Narita – Perth: three flights a week on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (restarts October 29).

Virgin Australia:

  • Cairns – Tokyo/Haneda: daily flights on Boeing 737 MAX 8.
