Amaszonas S.A., the company that manages the airline of the same name, announced through a brief statement that it will temporarily suspend its operations, following the reaffirmation of the decision made by the Plurinational State Government of Bolivia to withdraw the registration of four Embraer 190 aircraft, whose lessor (GY Aviation Lease 1816) claims immobilization due to non-payment.

The Bolivian airline will then suspend flights scheduled for August 8, and indicated that the company staff will communicate with passengers to reschedule them. The company closes the statement by saying that it will defend itself “before the appropriate instances according to the law”
The General Manager of the Airline, Dardo Gómez, indicated that the situation would cause an economic damage close to half a million dollars, “as it must take care of food, lodging, or ticket refunds for people affected by the situation”.
The position of the Bolivian government
The DGAC (General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics) of Bolivia held a joint press conference on the morning of Monday, August 7, with the Ministry of Public Works, the Naabol (Bolivian Air Navigation and Airports) service, and the ATT (Authority for Telecommunications and Transport Regulation and Supervision), confirming that from Tuesday, August 8, the four registration numbers of the aircraft in conflict with Amaszonas will be withdrawn.
These aircraft will be prevented from conducting commercial flights, and will therefore be effectively disabled. The aircraft, with registration numbers CP-3135, CP-3142, CP-3145, and CP-3171 are of the 190LR variant, previously operated for China Southern Airlines, and have 110 seats in a single class, except for CP-3171 which has 114 seats in economy.
CP-3171 has another peculiarity, as it briefly operated for Amaszonas Uruguay, from December 2019 until the suspension of operations of the Uruguayan subsidiary -at that time, also reported as temporary-, in December 2020.
