Connections from Brazil to Africa are being reestablished, and one of the next is expected to reconnect the Northeast to Cape Verde. Until before the pandemic, Cabo Verde Airlines flew to Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Salvador and Porto Alegre, using Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

The proposal of the company, then controlled by Icelandair, was to make the country a hub in the Atlantic, connecting European cities with Brazilian and African cities, as happens in other parts of the world.

However, the Coronavirus ended up eliminating any plans to actually implement this hub, and the airline was eventually re-established after a disagreement between the Icelandic group and the Cape Verdean government.

After years of crisis, the government regained control, maintained the Cabo Verde Airlines brand and acquired new aircraft, with the arrival of the first Boeing 737 MAX for the company just a few weeks ago.

Now, the country’s government has confirmed that the first international destinations to be rebranded, in addition to Lisbon, will be Paris, Boston and Fortaleza, as reported by AEROIN. The start date is yet to be defined.
