Delta Air Lines Boosts Flights to Shanghai from Seattle and Detroit; Adds Los Angeles

Delta Air Lines will substantially increase its presence in China in the coming months by strengthening the frequencies on its flights that connect Seattle and Detroit with Shanghai-Pudong (PVG), in addition to resuming another route that it had abandoned in February 2020, at the outbreak of the pandemic.

From October 29, the airline will operate daily between Seattle and Shanghai, when it currently operates two flights a week. The service is performed on Airbus A330-900 aircraft with 29 seats in Business, 28 in Premium Economy, and 224 in Economy.

On the same date, it will take its flights between Detroit and Shanghai from two to three flights a week with Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 32 seats in Business, 48 in Premium Economy, and 226 in Economy.

On the other hand, Delta Air Lines plans to fly again between Los Angeles and Shanghai starting in March 2024 with four weekly frequencies.

On the first two routes, Delta is the only operator, while on the third it will have to compete with United Airlines and China Eastern, although it has a code-sharing agreement with the latter, which allows Delta passengers to connect to multiple destinations in the Asian country through more than 260 flights per week that both companies operate under shared code.

«As demand continues to grow and the high travel season to the Asia-Pacific region begins, the Delta team is ready to welcome more travelers this summer,» said Jeff Moomay, Vice President of Asia Pacific for Delta.
