Textron Aviation Joins ALTA

Textron Aviation, one of the leading manufacturers in general and business aviation, has joined as an affiliate member of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA in Spanish).

The company, whose portfolio includes brands like Beechcraft, Cessna, and Hawker, has a history of more than 95 years with a range of products that includes executive jets, high-performance turboprops and pistons, military trainers, and defense products. This has made it responsible for more than half of the world’s general aviation aircraft, with a presence in over 170 countries.

We are very pleased to welcome the entire team of Textron Aviation. Beechcraft and Cessna aircraft are well known throughout Latin America and Caribbean and we are confident that its addition to the association and active participation in the collaborative work will contribute to the development of the sector in the region,» said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.

As Botelho aptly notes, besides their presence in the general aviation sector, models such as the Cessna 208 Caravan and its variants or the Beechcraft 1900, play an essential role in Latin American regional aviation by providing service for airlines that connect small cities.

In a note about the commercial aircraft with the most regular flights in Latin America and the Caribbean that we published last week, the Cessna 208 Caravan held the 12th position, with 55,224 scheduled flights in 2023 by SANSA, St. Barth Commuter, TAG Airlines, and Maya Island, while the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan variant adds another 47,000 flights for the year.
