Alaska Airlines Expands San Diego Offering with Nonstop Service to Atlanta

Alaska Airlines is expanding its transcontinental offerings at San Diego International Airport with new nonstop service to Atlanta for the 2024 summer season. This route is in addition to new routes announced to Florida and Mexico.

The airline continues its strategic plan to expand its network in Southern California. Next spring, Alaska will offer 37 nonstop destinations from San Diego to cities in the Northwest, Northeast, California, Mexico, Florida and the four main Hawaiian Islands. The airline’s current schedule provides service to 36 cities from San Diego, the largest offering of any airline serving the airport.

San Diego and Atlanta are not only popular destinations for leisure travelers, but both are also important business hubs. We are thrilled to connect the cities, especially since Atlanta is our largest transcontinental market without service from San Diego,” said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning for Alaska Airlines.

San Diego – Atlanta flight schedule

  • San Diego – Atlanta Flight AS 474 SAN 09:20 – ATL 16:40 daily flights.
  • Atlanta – San Diego Flight AS 474 ATL 17:45 – SAN 19:35 daily flights.

The route will be operated on Boeing 737-900 aircraft with 178-seat capacity (12 First Class/24 Premium Economy/138 Economy) and promotional fares are available starting at $169 each way. Alaska will compete in the Atlanta-San Diego market with Delta, Southwest and Frontier.

This service will complement the airline’s existing four daily flights between Seattle – Tacoma and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. In total, Alaska will have five daily flights and a supply of 12,466 weekly seats to and from Atlanta by the 2024 summer season.

“This new nonstop service to Atlanta offers Southern Californians direct access to Georgia’s capital and key economic hub, while making it easier for Georgians to access the warmth and beauty of San Diego,” said Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

In addition, for this winter season, Alaska has scheduled new leisure routes from San Diego to Tampa, Florida and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo in Mexico. On both services, the airline will have no competition.
