GOL will not operate flights between Fortaleza and Bogotá, at least in the short term

After months of speculation, GOL Linhas Aéreas has clarified that it will not operate flights from Fortaleza to Bogota, despite earlier announcements. Last June, the airline had announced to the Ceará state government that it would operate flights between the two cities, marking the return of international flights to South America from the city, along with Buenos Aires.

While the flight to the Argentine capital is now a reality, there has been no news of flights to Colombia, which were due to start selling last July.

Now, the company has explained to Diário do Nordeste that it was all a big mistake: Bogota was mentioned as one of the possibilities for a flight, given the company’s large presence in the Ceará capital and the fact that GOL belongs to Grupo Abra, which also controls Avianca Colombia.

However, as reported by AEROIN, the route itself has not been ruled out, but at least it will not happen in the short term, according to the company.
