Historic Emirates Airbus A380 A6-EDA Finds New Life in Upcycled Collection

In a notable venture of preserving aviation history, Aviationtag has partnered with Emirates to craft a special collection utilizing materials from the A6-EDA, Emirates’ first Airbus A380 which was delivered in July 2008.

The A6-EDA has marked its place in aviation history with a stellar service record, having completed 6,319 flights, and travelling to 62 distinct destinations during its active years. It has hosted over 2.1 million passengers over a cumulative flight time of nearly six years and eight months.

Transition to a New Phase

Post its retirement in April 2020, the A6-EDA underwent a careful recycling process at the Falcon Aircraft Recycling facility situated at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. While a majority of its materials were reintegrated into the local waste stream, significant parts were retained for upcycling, birthing the innovative merchandise collection now available exclusively through Aviationtag.

Tobias Richter, Chief Commercial Officer of Aviationtag, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting that it allows aviation enthusiasts to own a tangible piece of aviation history, linked to the numerous destinations A6-EDA visited during its operational years.

Supporting Global Initiatives

A portion of the proceeds from this venture will be channelled to the Emirates Airline Foundation, a charitable entity actively engaged in supporting projects that benefit underprivileged children worldwide.
