Lufthansa boosts US west coast service with flights between Munich and Seattle

Lufthansa is boosting the transatlantic offering from its Munich hub with a new nonstop service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) for the 2024 summer season, giving travelers access to the carrier’s network in Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa. Lufthansa is one of SEA’s pioneering international carriers, with flights to Frankfurt since 2008.

Lufthansa’s new service to Munich will be the only non-stop connection from Seattle to one of Continental Europe’s most important business and leisure destinations. Home to major German companies such as BMW and Siemens, the Bavarian capital is also a hub for Microsoft in Germany and a recreational destination for visiting the Bavarian Alps.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s European network next summer will have nonstop service to Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, London-Heathrow, Dublin, Istanbul, Helsinki, Frankfurt and soon Munich. On the other hand, airlines offering flights to SEA from Europe are: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Air France, Virgin Atlantic, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Condor, Icelandair, British Airways, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa.

Munich’s technology, aerospace and biotech industries are the perfect complement to Puget Sound’s innovation economy. Adding this new business and leisure capital to our gateway will bring great benefits to both of our communities. Lufthansa has been an outstanding long-term partner for our airport. We are very pleased to be working together on this new service,” said Lance Lyttle, Managing Director of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Lufthansa’s U.S. network at Munich for next year will have nonstop services to Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Newark, Washington-Dulles, New York JFK, Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle-Tacoma.

Seattle has long been a key gateway for Lufthansa travelers in the Pacific Northwest, with daily service to Frankfurt Airport, and we are committed to helping build bridges between Washington state’s burgeoning high-tech and aviation industries and businesses in Germany, as well as in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and beyond,” said Dirk Janzen, Lufthansa Group Vice President Sales Americas.

In the past two years, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has welcomed the arrival of new airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Finnair. Lufthansa’s new service to Munich will be the 13th new international service to be launched at SEA since 2020. In total, 46 international services will be operated at SEA, with 25 airlines providing non-stop flights to 29 international destinations.
