Viva Aerobus Launches Non-Stop Monterrey-Austin Flights

Viva Aerobus expands its U.S. operations with new nonstop service between Austin and Monterrey. The Mexican low-cost joins Bergston International Airport as the 22nd carrier in the Texas capital and the seventh international carrier.

«I am thrilled to welcome Viva Aerobus to Austin and Central Texas. This is an exciting investment that furthers our mission of providing world-class service and experiences for locals and visitors alike, ensuring Austin is a destination that inspires and welcomes the world,» said Kirk Watson, mayor of Austin.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this September upgraded Mexico’s aviation safety rating to the highest level, and Mexican airlines can now operate in Category 1.

Viva Aerobus is the second Mexican airline to serve Austin and the fourth to serve Mexico, along with Aeromexico, American Airlines and Southwest. In addition, Monterrey will be the sixth Mexican destination served from Bergston International Airport, complementing operations to Cancun, Mexico City, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and San Jose del Cabo.

«This new route not only connects two individual cities, but offers passengers from Austin and Central Texas a wide range of connecting flights linking Monterrey to more than 30 key destinations to discover Mexico,» said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
