Air Canada is adding two new routes from Toronto and Montreal to Stockholm-Arlanda for the 2024 summer season. The Canadian airline will be the third North American carrier to fly to the Swedish capital.
By mid-June, Air Canada will fly to Stockholm-Arlanda from Toronto-Pearson with twice-weekly flights and from Montreal three times a week, all services will be operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
«As we continue to execute our strategy of building world-class hubs in Toronto and Montreal, we are very pleased to strengthen Air Canada’s long-standing presence in Northern Europe with the addition of flights to Stockholm,» said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning.
In addition, the Toronto-Copenhagen route will offer daily flights from May 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024. Seasonal service between Montreal and the Danish capital restarts May 2, 2024 and increases to five weekly flights by June.
Air Canada began operations in Scandinavia in 2010, with flights between Toronto and Copenhagen. In 2023, the airline added a new seasonal service to Montreal. In total, by next summer the airline will have 17 weekly flights between Canada and Scandinavia.
The Canadian carrier expects to operate 100% of its transatlantic capacity by the 2014 summer season at 2019 levels and take full advantage of the recovery in international travel demand.
«Toronto and Montreal rank third and fourth, respectively, in terms of major transatlantic gateways, and it is with this in mind that we continue to strengthen the reach of our hubs, including increasing service to Scandinavia» added Galardo.
