Auckland Airport Announces Unprecedented North America Flights for Austral Summer

With the start of the austral summer season, Auckland Airport welcomes the arrival of new North American airlines and routes, with 26% more capacity available compared to pre-pandemic levels. In total, Auckland will have more than 185,000 seats available per month this season to North America,

For the first time in Auckland Airport’s history it will be served by four airlines operating the Auckland-Los Angeles route with a capacity of over 65,000 seats per month and a schedule of 27 flights per week. All three major U.S. airlines will offer service on this segment.

«If we look through January, we have 27 more weekly flights to North American destinations than we did in January 2020. This really indicates the level of demand that exists to visit and enjoy New Zealand’s offerings,» said Scott Tasker, Head of Customer Service at Auckland Airport,

This week, Delta Air Lines began its first New Zealand service with a new Auckland-Los Angeles route operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft with daily flights and United Airlines began the same route with an initial schedule of three flights per week on Boeing 787-9s.

Air New Zealand will schedule additional flights during the austral summer to Los Angeles and next month will begin seasonal American Airlines service between Auckland and Los Angeles with daily flights operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

«This is due to a combination of exciting new routes, such as Qantas and Air New Zealand’s nonstop connections to New York and American Airlines’ flights from Dallas-Fort Worth, in addition to existing new routes,» Tasker said.
