EasyJet has partnered with baggage management specialist Airportr to launch a new service that allows passengers to check in their luggage from their homes or hotels for flights departing from London Gatwick and Geneva. This service aims to provide an alternative to traditional baggage handling methods and is designed based on survey findings that revealed customer interest in such options.
The service is currently offered in three modes: luggage pick-up at the departure point for flights from London Gatwick or Geneva, baggage delivery upon arrival in Geneva, and a comprehensive door-to-door service for flights between London Gatwick and Geneva.
According to easyJet, this service is included in the FLEXI fare for customers flying to and from the mentioned airports. It is available for easyJet’s European destinations from these airports, with prices starting at £37, and a 30% discount is offered to the first 300 customers who use a promotional code.
Sophie Dekkers, easyJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, mentioned innovation as a key focus, stating: «We are always looking at how we can innovate… to provide more of the options our customers want.»
Randel Darby, CEO of Airportr, commented on the efficiency and experience of off-airport baggage management as an increasingly valued factor by travelers.
Since its inception, Airportr has handled over 250,000 pieces of luggage and sports equipment, receiving positive user ratings. In addition, easyJet has added the Twilight Bag Drop service at various airports for early flights, allowing passengers to drop off their luggage the night before. These services are part of easyJet’s ongoing efforts to improve the flight experience for its customers.
