Binter Airlines has received three Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on the same day, bringing the total to four out of the planned five for the airline’s new connections between the Canary Islands and Madrid.
The airline, based in the Canary Islands, expects to receive the fifth aircraft in the coming weeks to start operating new routes connecting Tenerife Norte (TFN) and Gran Canaria (LPA) to Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD). The Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will be based in Gran Canaria, where the airline has facilities for maintenance.
Starting from February 2024, Binter will connect the Canary archipelago with the Spanish capital through 112 weekly flights between TFN and LPA. The airline invested 398 million euros for the arrival of the five modern Embraer aircraft.
Furthermore, from August 2024, six additional aircraft acquired in July 2023 will begin to arrive. Binter is expected to operate a fleet of 16 E195-E2 jets by late 2024.
The new aircraft arrived at Gran Canaria Airport on December 28 from Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, after a technical stop in Recife. The E195-E2 planes, registered as EC-OEB, EC-OEC, and EC-OEP, have the capacity to carry 132 passengers in a single class.
Binter currently has a fleet consisting of six ATR 72-600 turboprops, nine Embraer E195-E2 jets, and one E190-E1.
