Austrian Airlines is taking delivery of its fifth Airbus A320neo from the Toulouse factory: the model will have a white paintwork for until it is painted in the company livery next spring. The aircraft, registered OE-LZR and christened «Thayatal», is expected to enter service in the coming weeks.
The airline has already taken delivery of four Airbus A320neo aircraft between August 2022 and July 2023. Depending on the route, it can reduce up to 3,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions compared to the predecessor model, due to modern engine technology and improved aerodynamics. The new units are part of the renewal of the company’s narrowbody fleet contributing to fuel efficiency, increasing profitability, representing long-term investment in the Vienna hub as a business location.
«The arrival of our fifth A320neo is a wonderful end of the year for Austrian Airlines and a gift to our passengers, who can look forward to even more travel comfort on board. In the coming years, Austrian Airlines will modernise both its short- and medium-haul fleet as well as its long-haul fleet. The use of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft is, together with the use of sustainable fuels, the biggest lever for achieving our ambitious climate targets,» says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino.
The fifth Airbus A320neo has a capacity of 180 seats in a single configuration and optimises short- and medium-haul routes. The aircraft features the Airspace cabin, offers more personal space, greater capacity in the hand luggage compartment and a new flexible lighting system.
