Emirates Expands A380 Service to Vienna

Emirates continues to resume operations with its Airbus A380 fleet to various destinations in its network. Cities like Barcelona, Birmingham, Casablanca, Nice, Shanghai, and Taiwan, among others, which have all welcomed back the largest passenger aircraft over the last 12 months, will be joined by Vienna starting in February, albeit temporarily.

The airline based in Dubai will deploy the A380 on its flights EK 127 and EK 128 between February 21 and March 30, 2024, at the end of the winter season, to increase capacity by replacing the Boeing 777-300ER, which carries 360 passengers versus the 519 of the A380s that Emirates will use in Vienna (14 in First, 76 in Business, and 429 in Economy).

Elisabeth Zauner, Country Manager of Emirates in Austria, said, “The deployment of our A380 until the end of the winter schedule is a great milestone for us, which emphasises the importance of Vienna as a destination and as a departure point. We naturally hope that our flagship will return permanently in the future”.

Emirates had already operated with the A380 in Vienna from July 2016 until the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020. It then returned between July 2021 and July 2022. Currently, its two daily flights are operated with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The A380 will depart from Dubai on flight EK 127 at 8:55 to arrive in Vienna at 12:25. The return as EK 128 will be at 15:10, arriving in the emirate at 23:40. All times are local.

Emirates has already reintroduced almost a hundred of the 116 A380s it has in its fleet to commercial service. As can be seen in Cirium, Emirates currently operates its Airbus A380s to these destinations: Auckland, Amman, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Birmingham, Bangkok, Bangalore, Brisbane, Bombay, Cairo, Guangzhou, Paris, Casablanca, Moscow, Bali, Dusseldorf, Rome, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Houston, Seoul, Istanbul, Jeddah, New York, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, London (Gatwick and Heathrow), Madrid, Manchester, Melbourne, Mauritius, Munich, Milan, Tokyo, Beijing, Perth, Shanghai, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei, Toronto, and Zurich.
