Air India Mulls U.S. expansion

Soon, Air India ṕlans to reach new US cities as it expands its long-haul long-haul fleet with Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft. According to The Economic Times India, the company is looking to fly to Seattle, Los Angeles and Dallas.

Currently, Air India is the only Indian carrier flying to the United States. According to Press Trust of India the new services are estimated to start by the winter season 2024/2025, The company is likely to use Airbus A350s to start flights to Seattle and Boeing 777s to operate to Dallas and Los Angeles.

In addition to the U.S. expansion, the airline is considering operating Boeing 777 aircraft from Delhi and Mumbai to London Heathrow once more aircraft are added to the fleet. Currently, flights to London are operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and a non-stop flight between Bangalore and Gatwick is also scheduled.

However, according to The Economic Times, Air India declined to comment on the plans, saying that «while launching flights to new destinations is always on the radar, it is also subject to various factors, including availability of pilots and crew».

Air India operates 51 weekly flights and offers more than 120,000 seats per month to the United States. The airline flies from Delhi to Chicago, Newark, New York JFK, San Francisco, from Mumbai to Newark, New York JFK and San Francisco and from Bangalore to San Francisco.
