Iberia celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Spanish National Police by baptizing an Airbus A350-900XWB in its honor. The aircraft registered as EC-OFM will bear the name “Bicentenario Policía Nacional” as a tribute to the security force.
The A350 was received by Iberia on March 7th directly from the Airbus facilities in Toulouse. Its maiden flight was on March 19th on the route Madrid (MAD) – London (LHR).
The presentation of the Airbus A350 took place at the Iberia facilities, known as La Muñoza, at the Madrid-Barajas Airport. The event was attended by the President of the airline, Fernando Candela, and the Director General of the National Police, Francisco Pardo.
A formation of officers and several patrols of cars and motorcycles escorted the new Iberia A350 during the presentation.
Iberia’s President, Fernando Candela, expressed, “Officers of the National Police and Iberia workers are together there every day with the goal of making the journeys of millions of people as pleasant and safe as possible.”
“Our vocation for public service, our dedication to caring for citizens, and also the fact that we are the most veteran in our sector. With 200 years of history, you are the oldest state body of all the Security Forces and Bodies of Spain, and we, the oldest airline in Spain: we will turn 100 in 2027,” Candela added.
The Director of the National Police, Francisco Pardo, said, “Today, a great enthusiasm takes flight hand in hand with a great company like Iberia. The airline has given us this opportunity to label one of its aircraft with the Bicentennial of the National Police. For us, it will be a real pleasure to see your plane proudly bearing the name of the National Police through the airspace.”
“I believe that Spaniards can be proud of companies like Iberia, for their long history of public service since their founding almost a century ago, in 1927. Iberia allows us this fabulous approach to citizens, so that they are very aware that their bicentennial Police always accompany them no matter how distant their journeys may be,” he added.
