Swissport will begin operations at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) starting on March 12, 2024. The company will have a staff of 300 employees and a ground equipment fleet consisting of 64.9% electric vehicles.
Palma de Mallorca ranks as the third busiest airport in Spain and one of Europe’s most attractive tourist destinations. Swissport is expected to handle approximately 220 weekly flights during Easter.
The initial clients for Swissport at PMI will include Condor, Sunclass, Albastar, Marabu, Aegean, and People’s Airlines.

In 2023, Palma de Mallorca Airport surpassed 31 million passengers served, marking an 8.9% increase compared to 2022. Additionally, PMI was the only European airport to exceed pre-COVID traffic levels during 2022.

Swissport Spain reaffirms its commitment to achieving carbon-neutral emissions in the aviation sector. During the initial phase of operations at PMI, the company will operate 64.9% of its fleet with electric vehicles and aims to increase this share to 90% by 2028.
Palma de Mallorca joins Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Valencia, and Zaragoza, where Swissport operates air cargo facilities.
