With the start of the summer season, Copenhagen Airport will have a schedule of 278 routes to 160 different destinations in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
«Overseas travel and adventures are a priority for many. We are off to a good start for the spring season. The number of passengers from Denmark and southern Sweden traveling abroad continues to increase, with many tourists also choosing to visit Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark,» said Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Spain is the most popular market. More than 210,000 passengers traveled to and from Spain in March, with Malaga, Barcelona and Gran Canaria being the main destinations. London consolidated its position as the number one destination from Copenhagen Airport, with 148,000 passengers.
On long-haul routes from Copenhagen Airport, Doha (Qatar) is the most popular destination. 15% of passengers on long-haul routes from Copenhagen fly to Doha, connecting to other destinations in Asia, Africa and Australia. Bangkok (Thailand) and New York (USA) are the second and third most popular destinations.
In June, American Airlines will launch a daily service between Philadelphia and Copenhagen operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Also in June, Scandinavian Airlines SAS expands its U.S. network with daily flights between the Danish capital and Atlanta.
SAS also launches a total of nine new routes to destinations such as Ibiza, Sarajevo and Dalaman on the Turkish Riviera, while Norwegian adds ten routes, adding destinations such as Valencia and Toulouse to the Copenhagen airport network. Ryanair is adding new services to its schedule this summer.
