GlobalX to incorporate four A320 family aircraft

Global Crossing Airlines has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) to increase its fleet from 16 to 20 aircraft. This charter airline stands out for its rapid growth in the U.S. market.

The authorization allows the arrival of four aircraft, two Airbus A320s, and two A321s, configured for passenger transport. These additions will meet the demand for flights during summer of 2024.

Although approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is still pending, once the process is completed, the additional aircraft will strengthen GlobalX’s redesigned strategy, which aims to expand its charter passenger flight business.

Chris Jamroz, CEO of GlobalX, stated: “This authorization is a key step in our journey towards sustained profitability and achieving our goal of becoming the largest charter airline in the United States, setting the highest standards in the industry for punctuality and reliability.”

In February 2024, Global Crossing Airlines announced its decision to prioritize its charter passenger flight business over air cargo, which was operated with Airbus A321 P2F aircraft.

Despite operating a small network of cargo routes from Miami (MIA) to the Caribbean and Mexico, the company has experienced performance levels lower than projected.

In addition, GlobalX is awaiting approval for its air operator certificate to launch its new subsidiary in Colombia: GlobalX Colombia. The airline plans to operate direct flights from its base in Bogotá to the United States.
