ITA Airways is ramping up its offer in the United States with the start of its non-stop flights between Rome Fiumicino and Chicago O’Hare. The airline will compete on this route with American Airlines and United Airlines.
Flight AZ 628 was operated on an Airbus A330-900neo registered as EI-TYC. The aircraft departed Leonardo da Vinci Airport at 09:39 local time and arrived at O’Hare International Airport at 12:31, after nine hours and 52 minutes.
Initially, the service will start with six weekly flights, and from June 7, 2024, it will increase to one daily service. In addition, the Italian airline will continue to increase its North American offering this summer with the start of the Rome Fiumicino-Tronto Pearson route on May 10, 2024. The airline will offer 140 weekly flights between Italy and North America.

The new connection to Chicago is the airline’s seventh destination in North America, complementing services to New York JFK, Boston, Washington-Dulles, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. This route will provide access to point-to-point traffic and connections to other U.S. destinations.
ITA Airways‘ schedule includes 57 destinations, 16 domestic, 26 international, and 15 intercontinental. It will also expand its offering from its main hub at Rome Fiumicino with new services to Kuwait City and Accra starting in June, Dakar and Riyadh will begin in July, and Jeddah in August.

In the peak period of the summer season, ITA Airways is adding 11 seasonal routes to Mediterranean destinations, including Greece, Spain, Croatia, and the Italian islands with Rhodes, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Heraklion, Corfu, Split, Kefalonia, Lampedusa, Sardinia and Pantelleria.
