Within the framework of the 23rd edition of the FIDAE fair, Thales, a renowned French technology company, signed a collaboration agreement with Universidad Mayor, a prestigious university in Chile, for the training of future space technicians.
The agreement includes academic collaboration mainly in seminars, conferences, lectures for students and technology transfer from Thales to the University. It will also encourage joint participation in applied projects and research of mutual interest and support the development of students through internships, practicums, degree work, among others.
«In the year that Thales in Chile celebrates 55 years of continuous and uninterrupted presence in a country that has given us the confidence and the possibility to exercise a leadership position in our markets, we are very happy to work together and collaborate with Universidad Mayor as part of the contribution we seek to make to society and maintain our commitment to support Chile in its spatial development and future professionals in science and technology, building a future that goes hand in hand with technological innovation, sustainability and inclusion», said Wellington Rodrigues, General Director of Thales for the Southern Cone (Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay).

«One of our purposes as a university is the creation of knowledge and how we link with society to disseminate and apply it. Together with Thales we want to promote joint and multidisciplinary work, which will be a great opportunity for our students to acquire better tools to develop in their areas. Our School of Engineering has made great advances of which we are proud, in areas such as cybersecurity, remote sensing and aerospace, with the development of a nanosatellite by an Electronic Engineering team, and this agreement will help us to continue developing in these areas», said Dr. Patricio Manque, Rector of the Universidad Mayor.
