The international network of SKY Airline transported 32% more passengers during the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reflecting the significant expansion that the ultra-low-cost carrier has been experiencing in key markets such as Argentina and Brazil.
Specifically, Florianópolis registered the highest growth (117%), followed by Bariloche (55%) and Punta Cana (50%). They also indicated that in destinations such as Mendoza and Buenos Aires, they transported 8,000 more passengers as these locations became ideal for weekend getaways.
On its routes to Brazil, SKY transported more than 139,000 passengers, a figure 70% higher than that of the second quarter of 2023. The new routes to Salvador (via Montevideo), Brasilia, and Belo Horizonte mobilized more than 12,000 passengers, which they highlighted as a good acceptance of the Brazilian demand for the snow season proposal in Chile, as well as for beach destinations in Brazil for the Chilean market.
«We are very happy to see that during the second quarter we managed to transport a large number of passengers, reaching pre-pandemic figures. This reflects our growth within the region where we have bet on new and attractive international destinations. We hope that more people will join us in flying and reconnect with loved ones or discover new cities in one of our 13 international destinations,» commented Jaime Fernández, Sales Manager of SKY Airline.
Considering the month of July, the peak of the winter season, traffic from Brazil grew 53%, reaching 82,000 passengers. The number of frequencies grew 47%, with 476 flights scheduled.
