On Monday night (29), the regime of Nicolás Maduro announced that it will suspend flights connecting Venezuela with Panama and the Dominican Republic starting Wednesday, July 31 at 8:00 PM in response to the stance of these two countries against the electoral fraud perpetrated by the Venezuelan dictator.
Besides directly affecting Copa Airlines and SKY High Dominicana, the only airlines from these countries operating in Venezuela, it is also a blow to Venezuelan airlines for which their main international markets are Panama City/Tocumen (PTY) and Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ). Additionally, other destinations such as Punta Cana (PUJ) and La Romana (LRM) have also been developed.
Most of the passengers were Venezuelans using these destinations as transit points to travel to Europe, other South American cities, and mainly to the United States.
At the time of this publication, LASER, Rutaca, and Venezolana de Aviación have informed their passengers through their social media to contact their call centers or official communication channels. Additionally, tickets issued for travel after July 31 will be valid for one year.
