Abra Group appoints Michael Swiatek as Chief Accessibility Officer to boost aviation inclusivity

Abra Group (majority investor of Avianca and GOL) has expanded the role of Michael Swiatek, naming him Chief Accessibility Officer while he continues his current position as Chief Strategy Officer. According to the company, this move highlights its commitment to making air travel more accessible for people with disabilities, whom Abra Group refers to as the world’s largest minority.

Swiatek brings over 30 years of experience in senior roles at some of the world’s largest airlines. His expertise and dedication to improving aviation accessibility align with Abra Group’s vision of fostering an inclusive travel experience. Partially blind himself, Swiatek offers a personal approach to accessibility challenges, emphasizing the need for awareness, training, and the adoption of accessible digital technologies and hardware.

“I’m honored to take on the role of Chief Strategy and Accessibility Officer at Abra Group. Ensuring that air travel is accessible for all, including the disability community, is not just a professional commitment but a personal passion. I look forward to working with our teams to create a more inclusive experience for all our passengers,” said Swiatek.

Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group, added: “Michael’s appointment as Chief Strategy and Accessibility Officer demonstrates our company’s dedication to inclusivity and accessibility. His extensive experience and passion make him the ideal person for this role. We are excited about the positive impact he will have on our organization and the industry.”
