Boeing and Avia Solutions Group announced the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of 40 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with an option to acquire 40 additional units in the future. This order represents a key step for Avia Solutions Group, one of the largest ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) service providers globally, as it seeks to strengthen its operational capacity in response to the growing demand for travel. Deliveries of the new aircraft will begin in 2030, consolidating the group’s fleet of 220 aircraft.
Avia Solutions Group operates with 11 air operator certificates (AOCs), including airlines such as Avion Express, Smartlynx, and Klasjet, flying in over 60 countries. The company, which transports more than 35 million passengers annually on behalf of airlines and tour operators, indicated that this expansion aligns with its goal to “meet the seasonal needs of our clients,» as stated by Gediminas Ziemelis, chairman of Avia Solutions Group.
“Leisure airlines worldwide experience significant seasonal fluctuations in traffic, with a peak in flight demand typically occurring during the summer season. To effectively meet this need for additional capacity and increase revenue, airlines require additional aircraft specifically during these peak periods,» Ziemelis explained.
“This order symbolizes a phase of sustained growth for our company. The new 737 MAX will enable us to offer greater operational flexibility and improve fuel efficiency across our group’s airlines,» he concluded.
The Boeing 737-8 is a single-aisle aircraft designed to operate short and medium-haul routes with high profitability, which is “crucial for an ACMI operator like Avia Solutions Group,» stated Brad McMullen, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Boeing. McMullen emphasized that this choice reflects Avia Solutions Group’s clients’ trend towards more efficient fleets with a lower environmental impact. The 737-8, with a capacity to carry between 162 and 210 passengers, offers a range of up to 6,480 km.
Avia Solutions Group, which includes more than 250 companies in the aviation sector and employs 14,000 people, maintains its commitment to global expansion through strategic agreements like this one, supporting its maintenance services, crew training, and ground handling operations.
One of its companies, Avion Express, is advancing in obtaining its air operator certificate in Brazil to enhance its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
