During the first ten months of 2024, more than 218,000 passengers traveled to Copiapó via SKY Airline, according to data provided by the airline as part of the city’s 280th-anniversary celebrations. This figure positions the city as a key destination in northern Chile’s air connectivity, according to the company.
The route between Santiago and Copiapó recorded an average of over 21,000 passengers per month, with January standing out as the month with the highest traffic, as more than 31,000 travelers flew with SKY.
As part of the high season extending from December 2024 to March 2025, SKY projects transporting over 69,000 passengers to this city. To achieve this goal, the company details that 13 weekly flights will be available during this period.
«Copiapó is a very important destination for SKY in terms of the trips we make to the north of the country. It holds significant historical and cultural relevance and boasts attractions like the Atacama Desert, which blooms at certain times of the year, presenting an unparalleled spectacle,» stated Benjamín Cox, SKY’s Deputy Sales Manager.
Copiapó, known as the gateway to the Atacama Desert, combines its tourist appeal with growing economic development, consolidating itself as a strategic point for both tourism and business in northern Chile.
