Volaris began operations in El Salvador as a Salvadoran carrier, becoming the first low-cost airline in the country and the third Volaris in Central America.
The presentation event took place at the International Airport of San Salvador, together with Volaris CEO, Enrique Beltranena, and the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.
The Salvadoran government expressed that the airport has the advantage of being category 1 in air safety, allowing airlines that are registered in the country to operate to the United States. After the launch, operations began to San Pedro Sula (SAP), in Honduras with six weekly flights; Cancun and Mexico City will be added with two and four weekly services, respectively.
The company has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to operate, as of March 2022, flights to Washington DC (IAD), New York (JFK), and Los Angeles (LAX).
Photo: Government of El SalvadorVolaris began operations in Central America in 2015 through Volaris Mexico (Y4). In 2016 Volaris Costa Rica (Q6) obtained its AOC, connecting to Guatemala and other airports in the region.
Volaris El Salvador (N3) will initially have an Airbus A320ceo with registration N544VL. The Costa Rican subsidiary has three Airbus A319s and the Mexican subsidiary has 38 A320ceo, 32 A320neo, and sixteen A321neo.
