Viva Aerobus has announced that it will be the upcoming airline to operate at the new Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA): the company’s CEO expressed that the routes that will provide service from the new air terminal are still to be defined.
«We realize that in the next few days rates for operating at the airport will be published, and once the fares are made public we will be able to define itineraries. We will be serving domestic flights» ,said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobús.
With this announcement, the company joins Volaris, which recently unveiled its new routes from AIFA to Cancun (CUN) and Tijuana (TIJ). So far, no other national airline, such as Aeromexico, or any international carrier has confirmed flying at the new airport, except for Venezuelan airline Conviasa, which is the only foreign airline that has expressed interest in flying to AIFA.

Viva Aerobus is the third largest airline in Mexico and currently offers 41 domestic destinations, the incorporation of AIFA in its route network will increase the airline’s presence on the domestic market in the Mexico City airport system.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through the Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), in the period January – August 2021, Viva Aerobus has mobilized 8,896,400 passengers with a 121.9% growth compared to 2020 and 13,334.8 tons of cargo, with a 317.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
