JetBlue expands operations at LaGuardia from two terminals

As of October 31, JetBlue expanded its presence at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in two terminals, increasing to 35 daily flights and serving more than three times as many nonstop destinations as it did in 2019.

JetBlue’s growth at one of the major airports in the New York metropolitan area, aims to offer travelers more affordable fares, this is possible thanks to its Northeast Alliance (NEA) with American Airlines through which both airlines have strengthened their operations from New York’s premier U.S. financial hub.

«LaGuardia is one of the most customer-demanded airports, but it’s also one of the most crowded, and JetBlue has long lacked the slots to grow our operation» ,said Dave Fintzen, Vice President, Northeast Alliance, JetBlue.

«But as a result of our alliance, we can leverage American’s portfolio, substantially expand JetBlue-operated flights at LaGuardia with increased frequencies and new destinations, and bring our highly regarded experience and low fares to more JetBlue and American customers» concluded Fintzen.

Operations at both terminals

All Boston flights will operate out of the Marine Air Terminal (Terminal A) with up to 12 daily departures and from Terminal B will operate the remaining destinations with 23 daily departures. Terminal B is also home to partner American Airlines and will allow for enhanced connections between the two airlines.

«We are very pleased to welcome JetBlue back to Terminal B», said Frank Scremin, CEO of LaGuardia Gateway Partners, manager and developer of the new terminal.

JetBlue’s split operation at LaGuardia will continue until the airline moves entirely to Terminal B in the future.

More destinations

JetBlue expands its presence at LaGuardia with three new destinations during the northern winter season to the following destinations:

  • Jacksonville, Florida (JAX) two daily flights.
  • Sarasota, Florida (SRQ) daily flight
  • Savannah, Georgia (SAV) daily flight

During the 2022 summer season, the airline will operate up to 50 daily departures and add new NEA-enabled destinations:

  • New Orleans, Louisiana (MSY) beginning March 27, 2022.
  • Nashville, Tennessee (BNA) beginning March 27, 2022
  • Portland, Maine (PWN) to launch in summer 2022

JetBlue by summer 2022 will offer 16 more nonstop destinations from LaGuardia (LGA).

Northeast Alliance continues to dominate the New York sector.

Within New York, JetBlue and American Airlines plan to operate nearly 500 daily flights during November, 300 of which will be flown by JetBlue. NEA’s extensive network of destinations is estimated to generate more than $800 million. The airline’s codeshare on 175 routes and have added more than 58 new routes including 18 international routes.

JetBlue is in the process of hiring 1,800 crewmembers as a result of the growth enabled by the NEA.
